Himalayan Corporate Retreats – Being REAL – Reality – Energy – Attitude – Life

Of the clients I take on walks, 50% are completely unprepared and therefore don’t make the end of the journey we set out to walk to. In our life style it is very easy to delude ourselves by confusing emotions with reality.

We can start to imagine things that aren’t real like our fitness, health, productivity, hard

Turning Up – Getting Past Emotions

work, impending success and the resilience of our relationships. We can

become legends in our own lunch box. That’s why it’s important to measure, compete and be authentic in our communication at work.

Sometimes we invest in “tolerance” and “compromise” because we think that’s compassionate, but all we’re doing is compromising and in most cases, helping others to go into denial, (a river in Egypt).

Many people come to Nepal with youthful enthusiasm but no one checked their real training, they hide behind emails and land unprepared. A leaders job is to set up systems that cause such delusions to be self revealing.

When I turned 40 I decided to Cycle around the South Island of New Zealand. I’d done a lot of cycling in my life, and the idea was really romantic. I bought an expensive road/mountain bike, pannier bags, lights, and fitted myself our with all the gear. I did a mountain walk at Mt Aspiring, aptly, and began the trip.

After an hour, I realised that with the extra weight, the day would be longer than I expected so, I put the bike and me on a bus to short cut the day. The bus took me most of the  way cutting out two days riding, but in spite of this, four hours after I remounted my bike, I was standing on the side of the road, with a hole worn in my crutch, hitchhiking. Six hours later I was still standing on the side of the road, legs apart, hitchhiking but now I’d dumped my bike in the forest. Eight hours after I’d started, I managed to walk the bike to the top of that hill and, the pitch of night glided down the west side of this hill looking for a place to sleep. I stood on the pedals. By midnight I found a hotel, begged for a room, had a humiliating medical examination and stumbled to bed.

Self-Delusion kills us, destroys families, careers and health. The main ally of delusion is BLAME. It’s the most dishonest emotion. Blame…

Words are Words
Thoughts are thoughts
Ideas are Ideas
Promises are Promises
But results are the only reality….

Domestic relationships rarely cause problems, more often than not, they reflect them. That’s the beauty of relationships, they’re REAL.

Leaders can really help those they lead by providing Balanced Opinions.
