I remember when I was just a helpless infant being told to “make a wish” and then blow out the candles. “Don’t tell anyone” or your wish will not come true. Lucky for me, a got smashed by reality and found out really early that it was a party trick. Wishes don’t come true. Dreams do, but only if you work hard.
It’s the foundation of depression, “make a wish” but of course it’s the perfect saying for those who are ill and need a boost, for the rest of us, it’s toxic.
Don’t tell anyone about your “wish” well, if there’s a perfect story to cause your dreams and so called wishes not to come true it’s not telling anyone, keeping them stuck in your head.
